The similarities of a ruminant and a non-ruminant digestive system is that they all have only one stomach. The same organs that make up the whole digestive system complex. The difference between a ruminant and a non-ruminant is that a ruminant has four chambers in that stomach and a non-ruminant has a simple stomach (one stomach comprising of one chamber). Ruminant and Non-Ruminant eat throughout the day and are constantly losing energy.
both break down cellulose and or toxic compounds. non-ruminants also possess large stomachs just not as many as ruminant , but non-ruminants possess a cecum which aids in reabsorbing nutrients through their feces(both ruminant and non-ruminant have to try conserve energy). |
